Dear God… Let This Exam Be As Kind As I’ve Been To My Students

After more than a decade in the academia, I can honestly say I’ve enjoyed almost every part of the profession be it teaching, mentoring students, interactive classroom discussions, projects supervision, and those beautiful moments when a student finally understands a difficult concept. Well almost every part… except one. Marking examination scripts...   Many lecturers already knows this struggle. Those tall piles of answer sheets staring back at you like they have a personal grudge... Often containing handwritings that look like footballers autographs, so difficult to read.  At some point you begin to wonder whether you are marking an exam script or trying to decode ancient manuscripts newly discovered by archaeologists from the times of Tsumburbura and Barbushe.  Then comes the internal debate between “Did the student really understand this?” and “Maybe I should give some marks for effort, for grammar, for neatness, etc” aka "let my people go."  Wel...

LOVE BUBBLE

The other day i was watching a motivational speech posted by Tyrese Gibson on his Facebook wall, where he described relationships in the form of a "bubble", and that gave me a nudge to write this.

He described relationship between two individuals to be contained or existing in the form of a bubble. Everything that is happening should be maintained within the bubble and the introduction of external factors has the potential to ruin the relationship. I personally have found myself in similar situation, and it was an unfortunate experience where many individuals who do not understand the nature of the relationship all of a sudden became involved. Usually when people don't understand the nature of your relationship, they tend to invade spaces, cause confusions and plant insecurities in the form of parasites into this bubble. And before you realize, its already too late and the bubble deflates.
It is really sad how outside opinions and ideas about how to love and what is right or wrong can affect how one sees or feels about the other partner. Worst is when all is said and done and you lost the true and real love that once made you so happy, and those individuals whose opinions were so important are no longer there when you are hurt and left alone. It all seems like they know what's best for you only when it benefits them.
It is so unfortunate how many people need outside recognition and are willingly ready to give-up on the person that brought them into happiness and true love.
As a muslim (and i believe as with other religions), the true way of knowing love and openness comes from knowing God, ourself and others. Don't be afraid to make your own decisions, stay strong, know what you want and what you deserve. It is said that the heart sees what is invincible to the eyes.
